Jaimie is my beautiful little niece.  She managed to wrap my heart around her baby finger and squeeze tight.

Jaimie’s beautiful designer gown was ordered one size too small.  NOT her fault.  I needed to let out the sides – but there wasn’t enough side seam allowance to do a proper job, so I  had to take extra lace appliques’ from the hem and patch over the reinforced side seams to add strength and proper coverage.  The bodice needed considerable adjustments including re-sculpting the back to actually fit her gentle curves and widen the mesh & beaded button closure.  Then the lace hem was raised about 5 inches (lots and lots and lots of fun!!!) – and to top it off, it rained the whole day of the wedding.   The dress was rather badly stained by the end of the night.  This wedding took place on a farm – which almost turned the huge outdoor tent into an island amongst the steams of rainwater that were threatening all the borders.   But… quite amazingly – everyone rallied, bundled up as much as we could, and witnessed an exceptionally memorable and beautiful wedding.  Jaimie was so excited and happy – I don’t think she remembers when she changed from her delicate wedding flats to full-on waterproof gum boots.   The photographer was a shivering soaking wet mess by the end – as were several others who tried to build wooden platforms over the ‘flooded’ pathways.   The food was deliciously fabulous and the dance even better.  Jaimie rocked the whole day and it was so much fun to be her seamstress Auntie!!!
